GBP Architects - we're pro-active and we know what you need

GBP Architects are pro-active designers that recognise the #racetozero requirements facing the UK. Our team is experienced with delivering BREEAM Excellent buildings and have developed a unique sustainability common-sense approach which we apply to every build.

We also have an in-house Certified PassivHaus Designer that can guide you through the PassivHaus certification process, PHPP energy assessment and practical aspects of airtightness and cold bridge free design, including contractor training workshops.

What is Passivhaus?

PassivHaus is a low energy standard that comes to us from Germany. Its key principles include excellent insulation (fabric first approach), drought-free buildings (low airtightness) and sustainable heating (delivered using Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery or MVHR).

Passivhaus Certificate

PassivHaus certification is the most rigorous assessment available in the UK. That is why there are so few of these buildings around. The UK construction industry often lacks quality when it comes to ‘looking inside the walls’. The result of this meticulous assessment is that PassivHaus buildings perform as designed, hence the low bills and internal comfort promise that comes with the label of PassivHaus.

About Passivhaus

The first PassivHaus in the UK was constructed in 2009. Today it reaches over 1,000, and it is gaining popularity among the self-builders, school designers, social housing builders, high-end developers among many others, because of the exceptional quality of the build, future-proofing and low energy bills. Our PassivHaus Designer worked with the pioneers of the sector and offers over 10 years of experience delivering PassivHaus and EnerPHit buildings.
