Cardinals Walk

1930s modern home extension

A full refurbishment of a 1930s semi-detached family home in Hampton, South West London comprising of a single storey extension to the rear, a two-storey side extension, and loft conversion. GBP Architects helped to create a modern comfortable home with carefully positioned skylights and exposed beams opening up the kitchen and living space to the garden while maintaining a traditional façade at the front.

Industrial chic in suburbia

The key factor in this project was the relocation of the main stair. Its new position provides a functional connection to the rooms on all the floor levels. The open living area to the rear takes the original width of the house and the additional width provided by the side extension, which makes this space unusually wide for a typical semi-detached house.

The result is interiors filled with light and open plan layout that feel spacious and inviting.
